We will always be motivated by fear of losing what we have, or not obtaining what we want.

Unfortunately, there are many people who will never get what they want, much less basic necessities. Having been many places around this planet I have seen many people who have nothing. Literally nothing. In Nepal I saw a young boy who proudly showed me his toy, a red marble... it was his only toy. Also in Nepal, a young man ran up to our party of hikers frantically exclaiming, "Do you have medicine?" He had a bad laceration on his hand. We broke out our medical kit, applied some antibiotic ointment, some gause and adhesive tape. That was the best we could do. All this happened just outside a small building with a sign on it that said "Clinic". This building had a dirt floor and absolutly nothing else in it.

The next time you cut yourself, be grateful you have a medicine cabnet with all the basic necessities.
