Hoo Boy!!! There are so many things you have said that I wanted to respond to… But, after reading many of the replies from other people, I think they pretty much covered the bulk of my feelings about your viewpoint.
Even so, I will offer a few thoughts…
- Cynicism (your article is dripping with it) will NEVER get you anything… Well, on second thought, it might get you a second term of Trump.
- If Bernie is elected to the White House, you will get little, if any, of whatever it is you want unless the Democrats also control both the house and Senate (assuming you are genuinely progressive… it’s hard to tell these days… there are a lot of wolves in sheep’s clothing out there).
- I agree with your notion that Obama was too timid… but he was the first black President… ever… For Christ sake, he was trying to show us what a “unifying” President could do… As the first black President, he felt he needed to set an example… and I’d say he did set a very good example… even if my progressive ass didn’t get everything it wanted. He was just a little slow figuring out that he was dealing with a vicious stone wall.
- I can’t say for sure, but if absolutely everybody in Texas voted, I think there is a chance whoever the Democratic candidate is might win Texas.
- For the sake of the country, save your righteous indignation and cynicism for another time… your country needs you… vote blue no matter who!!!!
Personally… The Democrats can put up a mosquito and I’d vote for that. The people who pointed out that if Trump is reelected, America… the country the founders envisioned… will be over… full stop.
