Born in 1950, I've had the good fortune to travel all over the world... Some of which was on steamships. I crossed the Atlantic on the QE 1, a huge ship from a different era. There was no 24-hour smorgasbord. Everyone, me at the age of 9 included, dressed in formal attire. No water slides, no slot-machines. There was a movie theater... Woo Hoo! I also traveled on much smaller ships. On one occasion, traveling on a freighter from Cadiz to the Canary Islands, we went through a horrific storm that resulted in every single piece of dishware being broken. That night the cook served us fantastic paella... In upside down metal pan lids. The best paella I've ever had!!!
