I came across a Medium article written by TaraElla with the title

It states, “…there’s the difficult task of taking ‘progressivism’ back from the ‘woke left’.”
I know my question is gonna make me look like an idiot… But I have been trying for years to understand what it means to be “woke.” I have a relative who posts on Facebook a lot, and I have asked him. He has made a genuine effort to explain it to me. But I guess I am kinda slow, cuz I still don’t really know what it is. My ideology is pretty far to the left… I am 73… My brain doesn’t work as well as it used to… The dictionary defines it in two ways…
woke
the behavior and attitudes of people who are sensitive to or concerned with social and political injustice
and
woke
the past tense of wake
e.g. “I woke up at 8:30 the morning.”
The second definition is what I have interpreted woke to mean for most of my life. Now, as near as I can tell, the new meaning is a pejorative label aimed at people who are concerned about social and political unfairness. I guess that means I am woke, cuz I am definitely concerned about social, political, and racial unfairness.
We humans manage to find every possible way to hate others, and blame others for all our difficulties.
I am a WASP, actually a WASA (White Anglo-Saxon Atheist). I have lived all over the world. I have seen many people living in absolutely crushing poverty. Most (if not all) of these people were not racially white. This helped me see how fortunate I am to have been born white, and into a family enjoying the privileges that many others do not enjoy.
While I have no wish to forego the privileges I enjoy, I want to do what I can to elevate those who have less than I have… especially those with much less. I have written several articles recounting the poverty I have seen, and my meager efforts to assuage that poverty.
Now, I suppose I should wrap up by getting back to the topic of the article I originally responded to. First, “Exaggerating Biden’s Troubles.” It really doesn’t matter where Biden is actually having cognitive difficulties on not. The problem is that the public perception is he does have cognitive difficulties.
TaraElla, you said, “If Trump wins this year, and leftist ‘leverage’ is considered a factor in that result.” WHAT??? “Leftist leverage” How are us lefties helping Trump? This is an all hands on deck moment! We lefties are Trumps fiercest opponents! I certainly don’t expect to get any of my lefty ideas, but we, left — right — and center need to band together to ensure that Trump’s influence ends… forever!!!
